Finishing up another evening on the “Chicago” stage, Ashlee Simpson was spotted departing the Ambassador Theater in New York City’s Broadway Theater district on December 6.
The “Pieces of Me” songstress looked lovely as she strolled past the paparazzi, sporting an all-black ensemble as she made her way home.
And though things haven’t been the greatest for the Simpson family in 2009, it seems Ashlee and her sister Jessica are finishing out the year strong.
After being dumped by Tony Romo had having her country music debut flop, Jessica is coming back with a new VH1 series “The Price of Beauty.” And Ashlee bounced back with her Broadway gig after being ditched by her “Melrose Place” gig. Not too shabby!

Jessica defends Ashlee: another Perez thing
Jessica Simpson is coming to her family’s defense once again.
The 29-year-old singer — who called Melrose Place “crap” after her younger sister Ashlee was canned — is now going after celeb blogger Perez Hilton, who poked fun at her nephew Bronx.
On Friday — Bronx’s first birthday — Perez wrote: “It’s been one year since Asslee pushed Bronx Mowgli through her vayjayjay and it’s all the family is talking about!”
He then ended his post by calling Bronx a “poor lil’ thing” who “doesn’t stand a chance!!!”
Simpson wasn’t amused. She Twittered later that day: “Does perez hilton..whatever his name really is..have no heart at all?Don’t ever attack my family again.Sad to know u hate so deeply.Sad 4 U”
Her spirits seemed to improve a short time later. “I challenge everyone to save up for a flt [ed note: flight] to somewhere you have always wanted to go. Get inspired beyond boundries [sic],” she wrote. “Find something waiting!”

Ashlee Simpson: Don’t call my sister fat
New York (CNN) — Ashlee Simpson-Wentz wants people to stop calling her big sister Jessica fat, the singer-turned actress told Women’s Health magazine.
“It’s disgusting that people would say those things,” Simpson-Wentz, who shows off her own svelte frame in the December issue of the magazine, said. “My sister has an incredible body. I feel sorry for anyone who would judge her, because she’s one sexy lady.”
Jessica Simpson has been scrutinized for her weight gain over the past year after she appeared in some unflattering photos at a chili cook-off in Florida in January.
The younger Simpson sister had a baby, Bronx Mowgli, with husband rock star Pete Wentz last year and shed her baby weight quickly. She said that although she is skinny now, she hopes that one day when she gains weight she will look as sexy as Jessica does.
“There’s gonna be a time when I’m way curvier, and that’ll be sexy, too,” Simpson-Wentz said.
The Simpson sisters have been very vocal lately when it comes to snubs against their family. Last month, Jessica Simpson came to Ashlee’s defense when she was fired from “Melrose Place,” calling the show, “crap” through her Twitter account.

Jessica Simpson Talks Ashlee’s Melrose Departure
Showing the strength of their family bond, Jessica Simpson slammed “Melrose Place” for dumping her sister Ashlee from the show.
The “Come on Over” songstress expressed her dislike of the CW soap in a recent rant on her Twitter page, the same place she used to promote the show.
She tweeted, “CW catching up on MP.who writes this crap?i have had bad scripts to work with,but this?thank God my sister is amazing and got you some press.”
However, a CW insider revealed that Ashlee was canned because she couldn’t act. “They hired her because they needed a good name to help create buzz. But she was embarrassingly bad. Producers cut her down as much as possible.”

[Ashlee Simpson] surprised pool partiers after posing alongside her sister, then retreating out of sight, only to return seconds later with husband Pete Wentz. Instead of having a girls’ weekend in Las Vegas, the Fall Out Boy rocker took a break from his tour to be with his wife on her birthday.
So much for the couple wanting to take some time off.
Yet Star Magazine suggested on Friday that the couple was definitely on the outs and hinted at a possible off-camera affair on the set of Simpson Wentz’s show.
“Ashlee is giddy over Colin (Egglesfield),” Star said, and “her husband is jealous.” “The two have been fighting worse than ever,” the story claimed.
The story cited a so-called “’Melrose’ set source” as saying, “On a few occasions, she broke down in sobs after angry phone calls.”
Yet Egglesfield seemed to be the furthest thing from Simpson-Wentz’ mind yesterday; her real-life hubby was the only one she was being “overly flirty” with at MGM Grand.
“I’m very happy in the moment I’m in,” she told the Sun. “My whole family’s here … the whole nine yards. It’s good to celebrate this with everyone.”
In addition to her husband and big sister, her 10-month-old son, Bronx Mowgli; mother, Tina Simpson; and notorious father/manager, Joe Simpson, came to Las Vegas yesterday to mark her birthday.
After what proved to be a whirlwind year, the petite brunette said she had a lot to celebrate.
“I had such a great year … it was definitely the best year of my life, “ she said. “I had, you know, a child and got married.”

“I came in today from tour, I’ve been on the road with my husband,” Simpson-Wentz said.
The 25-year-old was only here for the day, but did her best “to relax and enjoy (her) friends and family” during the brief trip.
Unlike many of the celebrities who are in town this weekend, the singer-turned-actress said a trip to the “Biggest Tattoo Show on Earth” at Mandalay Bay was not part of her itinerary.
“I didn’t even know there was a tattoo show … but I think I’m good on tattoos for now,” the already-inked starlet said.
“I’m (just) here for the day,” she noted, explaining, “We’re going to go home tonight so Bronx can be in bed.”
Though she insisted she didn’t want any birthday gifts, she didn’t wait to return home before opening her presents.
“My friends are so thoughtful with their gifts,” she said. “I didn’t ask for anything but my husband, on the first day of this week, I came to meet him on tour and he got me these amazing Channel shoes with pearls on them.”
“They’re amazing and really hard to find and beautiful,” she gushed. “(But) I don’t need a gift, I’m happy.”
“He gave me some other gifts that were between us,” she smiled.
While the birthday girl enjoyed the brief break in Las Vegas, Simpson-Wentz said her family and career have been keeping her pleasantly busy.
“Right now I’m focused on the show and on Bronx, my son, and my husband and my life,” she said. “It’s so exciting and it’s so lovely.”

Jessica appreciates that her sis has her back.

Ashlee on Jessica: I’ve Never Met Anyone “Stronger”
Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is in awe of sister Jessica, who was dumped by beau Tony Romo the night before her 29th birthday in July.
“I don’t think I’ve ever known anybody stronger than her,” Ashlee told Usmagazine.com Monday at the CBS, CW, CBS Television Studios & Showtime TCA party in Pasadena, Calif. “My sister is amazing. I spend so much time with her.”
Ashlee is currently gearing up for the fall premiere of her new CW show Melrose Place.
Balancing work and motherhood isn’t as tough as it seems, said the mother of 8-month-old son Bronx.
“It’s been good so far,” she said. “For me, I wanted to do something that’s a bit more stable, and it’s been that, which has been perfect. And we get to travel. We’ve been to Paris, Japan, everywhere with my son. And he’s so happy and healthy. I’m very fortunate he’s on a good schedule.”
She also said it’s been fun playing a vixen.
“She’s interesting. I think she’s creepy,” she told Us when asked to describe her character, Violet. “I think that she’s unaccepted and wants to be loved.”
Ashlee didn’t watch the original Fox series regularly, but said she’s “gone back and watched some of it [on DVD], and it’s great.”
Added Ashlee, “The fun thing about [the new show] is that hopefully people that watched it, and even watched the DVDs, will be into it because it brings the ‘oohs and aahs’ and the drama.”

Jessica and Ashlee Simpson: Sisterly Bonding
Enjoying a little sisterly fun over the weekend, Jessica and Ashlee Simpson ventured out to Katsuya restaurant for a late night dinner in Hollywood on Saturday (August 1).
Joined by Jess’s BFF hairstylist Ken Paves, the Simpson sisters chowed down on their Japanese cuisine, with Jessica looking as if she thoroughly enjoyed the drink menu, as well.
Earlier in the day, Ashlee made sure to tend to her motherly duties – as she was spotted by paparazzi arriving at the restaurant Se–or Fred with her son Bronx and mother Tina Simpson.
Of the day’s outing, Ashlee tweeted, “Woo Saturday fun with my mom [Tina] and [son] Bronx. Aw being home is so nice, let’s all take an afternoon nap.”

Enjoying a family dinner on the town, Jessica Simpson joined sister Ashlee and mother Tina for a bite to eat at Katsu-Ya in Hollywood yesterday.
Following a meal alongside Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, the “Dukes of Hazzard” damsel gingerly made her way down the steps in her overlong jeans as mom and sis followed along.
A patron at the restaurant also tells that John Mayer joined the Simpson ladies as they chowed down, making for quite the sight to be seen.
